Rapid Tissue Necrosis (RTN)

Waking up to seeing some of your Prized SPS suffering from RTN is always a heartBreaker for a Reefer.. I lost most of my colonies within days of being transferred into my new tank, in fact I lost all of them except for 3. I’ve noticed all has been looking good for the past 2 weeks and well to be honest I was getting happy. Then 2 days ago after ramping up my zeovit reactor My ORA Hawkins Started showing signs of RTN, by the end of the day the whole colony was White!.. Man the things this hobby puts us through……..

Back to it.

Last week I made the drive back to LA to pick my tank up after finding a chip and small hairline crack. After a good inspection everything looked great, that same night we came back we had it back up and running.. the next day (Sunday) we started up the zeovit reactor and started the 14day cycle.. now we wait and the fun begins….

DAY4 FTS.

So bummed.

2 days after my  last  blog I was. Cleaning the glass only to find a chip with a small hairline crack in it.. luckily Leemar was able to work with me and repair it.. I do have to say I was pretty bummed though…

Its alive!!

That’s right, tank is filled and added the salt today.. and to make things even more awesome is this drain is dead silent, I’m using the Herbie method with 1.5″ drain running at full syphon, I couldn’t be happier.. pics will follow soon…but for now the traditional CVR pic when starting a new tank… 

DIY Zeovit Reactor

Here is my Zeovit reactor I built, it will be feed by my return pump so another pump isn’t required.. I will also be injecting air into it to help release the mulm.. Here is the reactor complete..

Upgrade is Here!!..

WOW.. I can’t believe its gonna happen.. The upgrade tank has arrived!.. Built by LeeMar the tanks Dimensions or 48”x30”x18”Tall.. this is gonna be awesome…. Zeovit?.mmm Maybe .. I’ll be finishing up the stand in the next few days and updating with a list of equipment.. Stay tuned.. this is gonna be a beast!!… Here is a pic, for now…

Fraging=New growth?..

this frag was growing only 3 branches 1.5 months ago, then a buddy hit me up for a frag, then 2 weeks later after that another buddy wanted a frag, after that last fragging  I noticed something starting going on… new growth tips started popping up everywhere.. now 1.5 months later, this thing has new tips just about everywhere.. to bad I have no room to put it any where, so the frag rack will do for now… some pics to document my experiment.. oh, here is the thread also where I have been keeping track of everything too.. Fraging=New Growth
